From the Rector
The Rev. Dr. Jared C. Cramer, SCP
But then, as so often happens in the church, the Holy Spirit moved and ideas came to us and the other members of the Commission. Those ideas have come to fruition in this year's Forward in Mission report. I'm grateful to the members of the Stewardship Commission and various members of the Parish Council who worked hard to produce articles that share with you what life around our church has looked like in this past year. With so much closed and so many of us at home, it's easy to think everything has stopped. This year's Forward in Mission report shows that this is not the case—our church's ministry has continued and even grown during this time of global pandemic. If you haven't yet had a chance to read the report, click here to download a copy.
Much of the richness of this year's report comes from the keen wisdom of John Harberts and his idea of letting you in on the lives of a cross-section of our members, showing you how their lives have changed during this pandemic—and how they have found themselves supported by SJE. Additionally, the stories of several ministries that have adapted during these challenging times highlight the creativity and tenacity of our Commission Chairs and Ministry Leaders.
This booklet serves as the lead-in to the 2021 Stewardship Campaign. Bethany and I were so enthused by the booklet, that we went online and turned in our 2021 Pledge right away. Five other families had the same idea and we already have over $30,000 pledged to ministry in 2021, with an average pledge of a little more than $6,000, or $115 per week.
While we will likely not be able to have our glorious Harvest Festival and Pledge Ingathering on Michelmas Sunday, September 27, you can be assured that the Stewardship Commission and the Vestry are already pondering ways to celebrate the conclusion of this year's pledge campaign. We know that your support will be what it has been throughout this pandemic, strong, joy-filled, and abundant with generosity.
The world has changed, but this congregation remains a place for followers of Jesus, inspired by timeless worship, who are finding increasing ways to boldly love All. Please click here to turn in your own pledge to support SJE in the year ahead.
